In the top pics here, you can see some samples by Yvonne Morton who is exploring the mark-making capabilities of the machine. Using her wonderful hand-made silk felt, she is experimenting with the single needle on the Janome machine (take out needles if you haven't got a one-needle unit). The black marks are made from the reverse with black muslin. Other colours are added with silk or wool fibres. The bottom pics show a similar approach but using the five-needle unit.
